Project Description

Mitsubishi Water Technology (MWT) was established in 2012 to introduce and develop Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) technology in Qatar that takes into account the Gulf region’s unique sea water conditions.

Since 2012 Mitsubishi has:

  • Designed and constructed, together with its partner companies, the SWRO Plant at Ras Abu Fontas A3, with a capacity of 164,000m3/day, which commenced operations in 2017.

  • Through the Mitsubishi Corporation’s 20% shareholding, helped deliver Umm Al Houl Power, including an SWRO Plant with a capacity of 273,000m3/day that commenced operations in 2018.

  • Mitsubishi Corporation became a shareholder and strategic investor in Metito, a leading provider of choice for total intelligent water management solutions.
    Metito, with its cutting-edge engineering solutions, has installed and is operating a 40,000m3/day capacity SWRO in The Pearl-Qatar. Metito is also undertaking wide-ranging operations associated with the sewage network in Doha. In the future, the Mitsubishi Corporation and Metito are focusing on actively continuing their contribution to the state of Qatar through the utilization of locally developed water technology and know-how.
