Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation Research, Development, and Innovation division, has invited all technology entrepreneurs from around the world to apply for the second edition of its “Transforming Research for Emerging Companies” program, which provides an innovative platform to market the results of scientific research in the State of Qatar.

Entrepreneurs selected under this program will have the opportunity to test new market areas for technologies developed by Qatar Computing Research Institute, a research center of Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar University and Virginia Commonwealth University, Qatar’s School of Design Arts, a partner university of Qatar Foundation.

The program will consist of three phases starting with an October training camp hosted by QSTP for five days in Qatar. In the second phase, participants will spend one to three months building a business base, locally or internationally, with an operational plan to finance their project.

Participants in the program will join entrepreneurs from around the world to learn more about the leading and advanced technologies developed in Qatar, and will be able to discover many unique opportunities to take advantage of these technologies and benefit from the possibility of expanding their business internationally.

The Executive Director of Qatar Science and Technology Park Yousuf Abdulrahman Saleh, expressed gratitude for the launch of the program after its successful first edition, pointing out that it contributes to bridging the gap between research and the establishment of projects, through the process of harmonization between researchers and their developed technologies and entrepreneurs in the field of technology.

The Vice President for Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) at Qatar Foundation Dr. Richard O’Kennedy, said that the research program for emerging companies plays an active role in helping to enrich talent and build local capacity and help them innovate, assuring that this program will contribute to growth sustainability, enrich the research and innovation ecosystem in Qatar, as well as contributing to the country’s sustainable national development and diversification drive.
